Maternity Shoot

I have to start this post with a thank you to my bikini wearing, little sister who took time out of essential sunbathing and pool time to take pics of her growing, very round sister and 'I could so be a model' brother-in-law.  I really wanted to have images of my little family but didn't think I would have the chance to because of crummy Scottish weather and work so to plan a shoot when on holiday would be the perfect opportunity.  It did take me till the last day of holiday to get my husband to get out of the pool and shoot but he went from moaning to asking my sister to take solo images of him - shades on, shades off - blazer on, blazer off.

So I set up the camera and gave my sister a quick demo of where to point, frame and shoot and I am so happy with the outcome.   It's going to be so good to have these printed and framed for the baby's room.

Still cant believe how fast time is flying now that i'm in my last trimester

Fertility Monitor

CLEARBLUE FERTILITY MONITOR AND CLEARBLUE FERTILITY STICKS

So this arrived today.

     

It is the next step we are taking to help with trying to conceive. The Clearblue Fertility Monitor with 20 Pack of Clearblue Fertility Sticks retails approx £100 for the monitor and £29.99 for the sticks, however you can find discounted ones on Amazon and I managed to get the monitor and sticks as a package for £45.00 on Ebay (Not used I have to add, that would just be weird) It is a little bit complicated to set up but just carefully read the manual and it slowly but surely does sink in.  I am due my period in a couple of days so I have to wait until it arrives before I can set up the monitor.  Once I have set it all up I will do a post in detail about how I got on with the set up and what happen's next!

Update for this post (27.12.13) I found using this device was difficult as it never showed me 3 bars of high fertility so I had to resort back to taking my temperture and charting ovulation days passed last period.  The month that I conceived we had not used the clearblue fertility monitor and was charted my fertility down to the good old fashioned basal body temperature charting.

What is basal body temperature?

BBT is charting your temperature when you first wake up in the morning using a basal thermomenter (easy to purchase via Ebay) this type thermoter lets you record tiny changes in your body temperature.  The chart tells you when you are ovulating because hormonal changes trigger a slight rise in your BBT.  You are most fertile on the first spike in temparture and noted with a cervical mucus change you will soon become aware of your fertile days after your last period.

Introduction

There is one main reason for me beginning this blog and it is to keep me distracted from what is becoming and ever so frustrating task, if I should call it that.   Our journey doesn't feature any IVF or even a diagnosis of medical issues, so why the need to detail your personal problem you may ask? We are a young couple John, 30 and myself, 27 but that's just it, we are surprised with how long it is taking to conceive.  There are months when you just go about your everyday life of working and socialising without any focus in trying to get pregnant then it hits you, straight-forward in the face, reminding us it should happen by now.  Who knows what will happen over the next few months and fingers crossed this will be a short fertility blog which changes to a pregnancy blog, but either way this is going to help me to keep focused.  

The images posted above are of our wedding day, June 5th 2010 at Glencorse House, Edinburgh and really from this day we have been trying for a baby.  

I will not be going into detail about, well you know the 'in's and out's' of conception - We're all adults here, we know what's involved.
